Zach Claybaugh is a Student Success Librarian at UConn Library. His focus is on advancing knowledge and use of open educational resources (OER), as well as working with his colleagues in Reference & Student Success Services on information literacy initiatives. Previously, Zach worked as the OER & Digital Learning Librarian at Sacred Heart University, a middle school teacher in Albania and Florida, and an ESL instructor in Minnesota and Illinois. Zach has a bachelor’s in history from West Texas A&M University and master’s in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies and library and information science from the University of Illinois.
Zach’s capstone project is titled “Want to Join the Open Education Movement?: A Road Trip.” The capstone project is composed of promotional materials and a learning module. The promotional materials were created using Canva and can be utilized by signing up for a free account through the platform. The module is designed to provide users information about open education, spaces to find resources, information about government policy around open education, open education organizations, funders, and strategies for engaging with stakeholders at your institution. In addition to the publicly posted module, users can access and utilize the base PowerPoint file. All materials are licensed using a CC BY 4.0 license.
