Sabrina Davis is the Open Educational Resources (OER) Librarian and holds the Assistant Librarian rank in Texas Tech University Libraries. In her role as OER Librarian, Sabrina works with various campus stakeholders to expand the use of open educational resources and educates both the campus and greater community on the benefits of open educational practices. Sabrina received her Master of Library Science from Emporia State University in 2018. Prior to coming to Texas Tech in 2021, Sabrina was employed as the User Services Librarian and then promoted to Director of University Libraries at Graceland University in Iowa. As director, Sabrina spearheaded open education efforts at Graceland by gaining administrative support for the institution to become a member of the Open Education Network, and assisted with the Iowa Private Academic Libraries Consortium OER Grant Project. While at Texas Tech, Sabrina has served as a Texas Digital Library (TDL) OER Ambassador and chair of the TDL OER User Group , represented the institution in the 2021-2022 OpenStax Institutional Partnership Program, and led the Textbook Affordability Committee through the 2022-2023 AAC&U Institute on Open Educational Resources. She also serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Open Educational Resources in Higher Education.
Sabrina’s capstone project focused on gaining support from the institutions that make up the Texas Tech University System to participate in a collaborative Open Education Week Virtual Conference in 2023. This project sought to not only bring together representatives from the TTU System institutions for the first time to celebrate open education, but it culminated in the creation of the Toolkit for Planning a University System-Wide Open Education Week Event. This living Library Guide serves as a resource for librarians and other open education advocates who work at an institution that is part of a university system and are interested in collaborating with other institutions within their system for an Open Education Week event. The resources, templates, and examples provided in the toolkit can be used throughout the event planning and implementation process.
