Lisa Louis is Head of Research & Learning at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s Mary and Jeff Bell Library. She graduated with an MLS and a Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. She has worked in a variety of library settings over the course of her career, including academic, public and law libraries. In her current position, she manages research, instruction and scholarly communication services, serves as the OER librarian, and is the liaison to the College of Business. She served as the Chair of TAMU-CC’s Open Education Task Force from 2017-2019 and will co-lead a new Affordable Learning Tools Committee which will begin its work in Fall 2020.

Lisa’s capstone project involved running a semester-long community of practice for faculty on the subject of open education, as well as creating a toolkit to help others design and facilitate similar programs. As this was the second community of practice that Lisa has led on open education, it was an opportunity to refine and extend the initial course design and make improvements. The toolkit outlines the design process, shares suggestions and provides resources to others who would like to try this strategy for faculty development on open education on their own campuses.
