Hailing originally from Alberta, Canada, Kristopher Meen received his MLIS from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University) in London, Ontario in 2010. Since qualifying, he has led a career that has focused on teaching and information services. Kris spent one year with Industry Canada in Ottawa, then two years at the Suna Kıraç Library at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey. Kris joined the NUI Galway Library in Galway, Ireland in 2015 and has spent most of his six years at Galway as a librarian working in academic skills / marketing & engagement. Kris is a member of the project team for a funded pilot project for OER production and support at NUI Galway and is an active member of the Sparc European Network of Open Education Librarians (ENOEL). Kris’ capstone project is called MOEnu: Whet Your Appetite for Open Education. MOEnu is a tasty infographic that curates highly engaging open education skills and knowledge development activities like cafés, sprints, and games. MOEnu curates available open resources, linking to either activities themselves (as video recordings) or descriptions of activities, lesson plans, anything that could help someone developing open education-related skills in others to create engaged programming. Some of the activities linked to in the MOEnu are activites of his own that he developed and implemented over the course of the winter term, 2021-22, at NUI Galway: a short series of virtual Open Cafés and a game-like micro-sprint activity.
