Biography
Jen Mayer is the Head of Library Research Services and Liaison to the Graduate School at the University of Northern Colorado Libraries, which is responsible for scholarly communication initiatives and Scholarship & Creative Works @ Digital UNC, the institutional repository. She serves on the UNC Libraries Open Education Resources task force, the UNC Research Advisory Council, and chairs the UNC Faculty Publication Fund Committee. Her current research focuses on OER use by faculty and impacts of textbook costs on students, the data management education and training needs of graduate students, and the implications of value of academic library studies.
Leadership Portfolio
Jen’s 2017-18 SPARC Open Educational Leadership capstone project focused on the design of two CC BY survey instruments, which will gather input from the University of Northern Colorado campus community regarding Open Educational Resources (OER). The titles of the surveys are:
- Faculty Awareness, Attitudes, and Use of Open Educational Resources (OER) at the University of Northern Colorado
- Textbook and Course Materials: Costs and Impacts on Students at the University of Northern Colorado
The results analysis will include a comparison of institutional, state and national level results.
The survey instruments are adaptable to any institutional environment.
