Hailey Babb is an Open Education Project Manager at SPARC. In her role, she supports the SPARC Open Education Program’s policy and advocacy development, Leadership Program, and community organizing.

Hailey was an active student leader at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, where she will soon hold her Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She began her journey with open education as Vice-President Academic with the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union where she co-organized the province of Alberta’s inaugural #TextbookBrokeAB campaign. As a direct result of this work, Hailey has been invited to speak nationally and internationally about her leadership experience in student OER advocacy. Later elected Student Union President, Hailey brought the issue of textbook affordability to both the Alberta Legislature and Ottawa’s Parliament Hill as a delegate of the Council of Alberta University Students and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations, respectively.

Prior to her roles in student government, she held institutional positions as a Residence Assistant, New Student Mentor, and Faculty Representative. She has led a variety of efforts to increase access to high-quality higher education, and was recently recognized by her hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta as a Top 40 Under 40.

Hailey is based in Edmonton, Alberta.
