Winni Zhang, Open Education Project Manager
Winni Zhang served as Open Education Project Manager at SPARC from 2020 to 2021. Her project management portfolio included leading SPARC’s work on the publishing industry’s digital course material contracting practices and providing operations management for the Open Education Conference in 2020 and 2021.
Prior to coming to SPARC, she served as the Executive Director of Momentum, an education startup in Houston, connecting over 300 high school students to college mentors. Her work advanced the mission of ensuring under-served students have access to post-secondary education and employment.
In her time at University, Winni was the Student Body President of the University of Houston where she worked with the Provost and Dean of Libraries to start the first pilot program for open education materials. Her open education advocacy extended to her position as the Texas Student Government Coalition Director, governing 25 Student Government Associations in Texas. Later that year, Winni was awarded the 2017-2018 National Outstanding Student Government Leader of the Year.
Winni’s long term objective is to pursue law. She is based in Houston, Texas.
