Mrs. Sonya Lockett is an Associate Librarian and the Coordinator of Public Services at the John Brown Watson Memorial Library located on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB). She is responsible for the Circulation Area, Interlibrary Loans, and the Library Liaison for the School of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Human Science. Sonya has the added duties of library activities that involve Open Educational Resources (OER). She will coordinate OER activities and work with all library faculty and staff when needed in these activities. Sonya was granted Tenure at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff in 2018.
Sonya’s capstone involved introducing the faculty and administrators of the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff to Open Educational Resources and the advantages of using OER. Sonya created a PowerPoint presentation that included the history of Open Education and also the definition of Open Educational Resources. During the presentation, she shared some advantages of OER and even some of the benefits for faculty use. The presentation also included information about the Creative Commons License. As part of the capstone, there was a business card created that included QR codes to existing Open Education platforms.
