Nataly Blas is the Collection Development Librarian at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, CA and was formerly the Business Librarian at LMU (2014-2021). She received her Master of Science in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University and her Master of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University. During her time at LMU, Nataly has served on the Open Access Week Planning Group, helped develop the Journal Evaluation Tool (rubric to review OA journals), and promoted OER resources in business. In her current role, Nataly is more involved in the open education initiatives at LMU, particularly the Open & Affordable Textbook Initiative, designed to help faculty learn about, discover, adapt, and create open and/or free alternatives to traditional costly course materials. Nataly’s capstone project focused on developing an Open Educational Resources Strategic Initiatives Roadmap for the William H. Hannon Library at LMU. The primary goal of the project was to examine the ways the library is currently supporting open education initiatives, identify opportunities and areas of growth, and develop a roadmap to prioritize and centralize the library’s open education efforts.
