On February 21, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released their draft plan to Enhance Public Access to the Results of NIH-Supported Research and requested public feedback.
SPARC submitted comments praising the removal of the 12-month embargo on federally funded research, as required by the Nelson Memorandum, and offered additional steps for NIH to consider to further strengthen the plan and address inequities in the research ecosystem.
NIH also hosted a public listening session on the agency’s draft plan and posted a recording of the webcast.
