Raym Crow, Senior Consultant

Raym Crow has been Senior Consultant at SPARC since 2002. In that capacity, he has advised scores of nonprofit initiatives—from scholarly societies, university presses, academic libraries, and foundations—on sustainability approaches for open resources. Raym has over 30 years of experience in academic and scholarly publishing, specializing in strategic business planning and practical collective support models for open access journals, monographs, digital humanities projects, and infrastructure services.

Raym has written a number of white papers, reports, and guides that assist SPARC members and others in developing and operating all types of financially self-sustaining, mission-driven initiatives.

Raym represents SPARC on the boards of BioOne, Project Euclid, and SPARC Europe. He is also managing partner of Chain Bridge Group, an independent publishing consultancy to nonprofit organizations. Raym has served in a variety of publishing management positions, including Publisher and Vice President of Product Development at LexisNexis Academic and Library Solutions. He has a B.A. from Whittier College and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
