USRN Community Conversation: Dealing with AI Bots in Repositories

12pm ET / 9am PT  ·  Virtual

As AI-driven bots increasingly interact with open-access repositories, their impact presents both opportunities and major operational challenges. How can repositories safeguard their infrastructure while still supporting open, machine-accessible scholarship?

Join us for the next US Repository Network (USRN) Community Conversation, where Kathleen Shearer and Paul Walk will introduce the outcomes of COAR’s Dealing with Bots initiative—now available through the new resource: Dealing with Bots website. This site outlines a conceptual model, provides background, and explains a range of mitigation strategies, with real-world efficacy assessments. It also invites repository practitioners to share their own experiences, fostering a global exchange of insights and solutions.

We’ll also hear from a couple U.S. repository managers about the realities of grappling with AI bot activity.
