Julie Reed is the E-Learning Librarian at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is a co-lead of the college’s Open Educational Resources Working Group and is working toward widespread awareness and adoption of OER on all six of Central Piedmont’s campuses. In her previous position as Electronic Resources Librarian at Johnson C. Smith University, she participated in the HBCU OER Affordable Learning Solutions Pilot program as well as an OER faculty review program with Davidson College, Furman University, and Duke University. Results of this last project comprise a chapter of the book OER: A Field Guide for Academic Librarians called “Interinstitutional Collaborations to Forge Intracampus Connections: A Case Study from the Duke Endowment Libraries” published by Pacific University Press. She received her Certificate in OER Librarianship from the Open Textbook Network as a part of its inaugural cohort. Julie’s capstone project focused on taking the Introduction to Criminal Justice course OER at Central Piedmont as a precursor to creating Central Piedmont’s first Z-degree in Criminal Justice. She also created and revised OER policy for Central Piedmont as well presented online and in-person OER introductory workshops for a variety of campus stakeholders including administration, faculty, and library staff.
