Jennifer Grayburn

Director of Digital Scholarship and Public Services, Union College

Jennifer Grayburn is the Director of Digital Scholarship and Public Services at Union College in Schenectady, NY. In this position, Jennifer is developing a digital scholarship program that integrates with existing access and research services. She received her PhD in Art and Architectural History from the University of Virginia, with a focus on medieval art and architecture. As a graduate student, she held the positions of Praxis Fellow Project Manager and Makerspace Technologist in the Scholars’ Lab (2014-2016), where she started her research on the critical use of 3D models and 3D printing in the classroom. Jennifer expanded this research as CLIR Postdoctoral Fellow at Temple University Libraries’ Digital Scholarship Center (2016-2018).

Jennifer’s current interests include the creation and reuse of 3D data under Creative Commons licensing as a form of open educational resource. She is the lead author of the CLIR report chapter “Shiny Things: 3D Printing and Pedagogy in the Library” (September 2017) and the lead editor of the upcoming CLIR report 3D/VR in the Academic Library: Emerging Practices and Trends (anticipated 2018).
